Inquest into the Death of Preston Biederman Announced

Dr. William J. Lucas, Deputy Chief Coroner for Inquests, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Preston Biederman.

Mr. Biederman, age 41, died on March 13, 2007, while employed at a logging operation to clear timber for hydro lines near Attawapiskat. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act. The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. Biederman's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing deaths in similar circumstances. The inquest is expected to last two days and to hear from approximately six witnesses. The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, in the Town of Cochrane Council Chambers, 171 4th Ave., Cochrane. Dr. Craig Muir will preside as inquest coroner and Russell Wood will act as counsel to the coroner.
