In-person ceremony celebrates 2022 grads (3 photos)

42 students recently graduated from Collège Boréal's Timmins campus

Graduates were all smiles receiving their Collège Boréal diplomas.

An in-person ceremony last week celebrated the 42 graduates from the Timmins campus this week. Over $16,000 in scholarships from local organizations and businesses were also handed out.

“I am particularly proud and moved to be handing diplomas today to a cohort that has overcome the enormous challenges brought on by the pandemic. The 2022 graduates are, without question,  the embodiment of the perseverance and talent of an entire generation. Their courage and ability  to adapt to change will undoubtedly serve them well on the job market and in whatever path they  choose to take," said Daniel Giroux, Collège Boréal  president, in a statement.

Social Work Techniques program grad Julie Thibodeau represented this year's class, sharing anecdotes that many students experienced learning via Zoom in the past couple of years, according to a news release from the school.

This year's awards of excellence went to:

  • Arianne Laberge, Practical nursing, Knights of Columbus 6808 council  Scholarship – $400

  • Julie Thibodeau, Social services worker, Daughters of Isabelle Scholarship – $300

  • Kyra Paquet, Office administration – general  Daughters of Isabelle Scholarship – $300

  • Samuel Bédard, Heavy equipment technician, Glencore-Kidd Operations Scholarship – $500
