Impaired charge laid following collision

Three people were taken to hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries

SOUTH PORCUPINE - On July 9, 2019 at approximately 1 p.m., members of the South Porcupine Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 101 in Taylor Township, Ontario. 

The collision occurred between a pickup truck and a farm tractor. Three people were taken to hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries. Standard Field Sobriety Testing was conducted on the driver of the pickup and he was subsequently arrested. 

Further testing was completed by a Drug Recognition Expert. As a result of the investigation, Michael Dzambic, a 38-year-old, from Swastika, Ontario, was charged with the following:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs, contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC).

The driver was issued a 90-day Automatic Driver's Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days. 

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on Aug. 20, 2019, in Timmins, Ontario.
