Hydro One work is taking place at the Timmins Memorial Cemetery this week.

The company is refurbishing equipment on two transmission towers and overhead lines at the Pine Street South cemetery, according to the City of Timmins. The work started Oct. 4 and is runs until Nov. 2.

"Work will take place on one tower located in the back southwest of the cemetery, near the columbarium and one tower located at the northeast end of the cemetery, near the parking lot. Work will also be carried out on the overhead lines that connect these towers," reads the notice.

"A platform will be installed to protect monuments near work areas and some roads within the cemetery may be closed intermittently throughout the month to ensure safety where there is active work."

Oct. 17 to Oct. 22, access to the cemetery will only be via the parking lot entrance in the northeast corner.

Regular construction hours are Monday to Thursday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Weekend work is expected Oct. 30 and 31.
