The Timmins and District Humane Society is the latest recipient of the chamber's 100 People Who Care campaign.

At the Timmins Chamber of Commerce's annual general meeting, Business Takes the Lead chair Dan Ayotte handed over $5,000 to humane society executive director Alicia Santamaria.

The cash is being used for a project taking place at the shelter soon.

She said they'll be repairing enclosures and fencing, revamping the small animal area, and getting enrichment toys and agility items for the dogs and small animals.

The 100 People Who Care initiative sees quarterly contributions of $100 from 100 people. If everyone takes part, it has the potential to raise $10,000 every quarter.

The next round of the initiative is opening, with people participating choosing the non-profit that will receive the cash.
