Timmins and District Hospital is reporting an increase in the number of patients with COVID-19.

As of 10 a.m. today (June 5) there were 14 patients admitted to hospital, including two people in ICU. That is an increase of three patients from yesterday's report when 11 people with the virus were admitted.

There are also 52 patients who are waiting for their test results or who will be tested for COVID-19. The average age of admitted patients with the virus is 52 years old.

According to the hospital update, the bed and ICU capacity are stable.

With an increased demand for testing, the COVID-19 assessment centre in Timmins has increased its hours, added walk-in testing and is setting up pop-up clinics across the city. A list of the pop-up clinics for next week is available here.

Today, 30 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the Porcupine Health Unit region.

To date, there have been 1,569 confirmed cases of the virus in the region. As of yesterday, there had been 1,164 recoveries and 27 people have died. While the health unit reports new cases on the weekend, the number of known active cases and recoveries is not updated.
