Home invasion victim sustains serious injuries

One from North Bay and another from Cambridge face multiple charges

KIRKLAND LAKE - On June 6, 2019, members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the North East Region OPP Crime Unit and the North East Region OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS), responded to a home invasion on Georgina Street in the Town of Matachewan, Ontario, where they occupant was assaulted by two people.  

The victim sustained serious non-life threatening injuries as a result of the assault and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.   

As a result of the investigation police have charged two people.  

Louis Roy, age 33, of North Bay, Ontario, and Edgar Mohr, age 39, of Cambridge, Ontario, were charged with the following:  

  • Break, Enter a Place, Commit Indictable Offence, contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Uttering Threats - Cause Death or Bodily Harm, contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the CC,
  • Intimidation, contrary to section 423(1)(b) of the CC,
  • Mischief Under $5,000, contrary to section 430(4) of the CC, and
  • Cruelty to Animals - Unnecessary Pain, Suffering or Injury, contrary to section 445.1(1)(a) of the CC.

Both accused were remanded into custody pending bail and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Temiskaming Shores by video, on June 10, 2019.
