High-risk COVID-19 exposures on two train trips

Potential high-risk COVID-19 exposures have been issued for two trips on the Polar Bear Express. 

The advisories are for the Monday Dec. 27 train and Tuesday, Dec. 28 train from Moosonee to Cochrane that left at 5 p.m.

Regardless of vaccination status, individuals seated in Car 1 are advised to:  

  • Immediately self-isolate 10 days from date of exposure and self-monitor for signs and symptoms  
  • Get tested right away and on or after day seven
  • If you travelled on Dec. 27, get tested immediately and on or after Jan. 3
  • If you travelled on Dec.28, get tested immediately and on or after Jan. 4
  • Call the Porcupine Health Unit at 705-360-4819 or 1-800-461-1818 or your local public health unit.  

Other individuals on the train are advised to:  

  • Self-monitor for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 for 10 days from potential exposure. 
  • Self-isolate immediately if symptoms develop and get tested.

Symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, cough, loss of taste or smell, difficulty breathing, tiredness, muscle aches and pain, nausea, vomiting and/or diarrhea, abdominal pain, sore throat, runny nose, nasal congestion, decreased or lack of appetite, headache and pink eye.
