The City of Timmins is reminding people about outdoor water usage.

There is a municipal bylaw regulating the water supply system in the city.

In May, June, July and August, external water use is allowed on even calendar days at municipal addresses ending in even numbers (0, 2, 4, 6 and 8), and on odd calendar days at municipal addresses with odd numbers (1, 3, 5, 7 and 9).

Outdoor recreational water use for small pools or children's sprinklers is allowed at all municipal addresses during those four months. A child, teenager or adult must be present or penalties will apply.

If there is an emergency period that could reduce the water pressure below what's needed for safety or water supply, the bylaw allows for the city to temporarily regulate water use. External use of water during an emergency requires a permit from the CAO.

According to the city, residents with newly installed sod or seed can ask for a permit by contacting Service Timmins at 705-264-1331.
