Here's how much council members took home last year

Council salaries and expenses totalled more than $350K in 2019

The City of Timmins paid out more than $350,000 in salaries and expenses for council in 2019.

Each year municipalities are required to reveal how much council members were paid in salary and expenses.

A remuneration report is on the agenda for the March 23 council meeting.

For 2019, council members received $285,241.26 in salaries, and $66,166.63 in expenses. Altogether, $351,407.88 was paid out. That's over $44,000 more than was paid out in 2018, when the total was $306,686.

Mayor George Pirie topped the list. 

He received $93,559.82 in remuneration, and $17.080.88 in expenses, for a total of $110,640.70.

The salary for councillors is $23,960.18.

The expenses paid to each council member were:

• Rock Whissell - $8,451.37, for a total of $32,411.55 including remuneration

• Mickey Auger - $7,656.43, for a total of $31,616.61 including remuneration

• John Curley - $7,494.11, for a total of $31,454.29 including remuneration

• Joe Campbell - $6,596.82, for a total of $30,557 including remuneration

• Kristin Murray - $5,078.56 - for a total of $29,038.74 including remuneration

• Andrew Marks - $4,947.37, for a total of $28,907.55 including remuneration

• Noella Rinaldo - $4,805.86, for a total of $28,766.04 including remuneration

• Michelle Boileau - $4,055.22, for a total of $28,015.40 including remuneration

The report also breaks down the expenses paid to members of different boards and committees, such as the Police Services board, Cochrane Social Services Administration Board, Porcupine Health Unit, Mattagami Region Conservation Authority.
