Editor's Note: This story has been updated to indicate that clinics have been booked for people 75 year and up and to add in those locations.

Work to deliver COVID-19 vaccines continues across the Porcupine Health Unit (PHU).

The region is still in phase one of its rollout. Local vaccine clinics for people 75 years and up were announced today.

For people booking appointments to upcoming clinics, the local health unit is using its own online booking system, not the one run by the province.

“The one benefit to us with a really large health unit with a lot of small communities is we’re able to be nimble and quick and we’re able to add clinics and we’re able to adjust clinics with very short notice,” Dr. Lianne Catton, PHU medical officer of health, explained earlier this week about using the local booking sytem.

For people who do get an appointment for the vaccination, the health unit has a few tips. They are:

  • Do not gather outside.
  • Bring a mask and your health card.
