With Connecting Link detours causing traffic delays in the city, Timmins Police have a message for transport drivers.

The service says officers will be focusing extra attention on routes that commercial motor vehicles are using as detours even though they shouldn't be. The areas of concern include Jaguar Road and Sandy Falls Road.

There are major traffic disruptions in two areas of town for Connecting Link work.

Riverside Drive is down to one lane in each direction from Government Road to Shirley Street. There is no detour around this work.

The heavy truck detour around the work being completed downtown includes Shirley Street, Lafleur Drive, Laforest and Highway 655.

Timmins Police says Jaguar and Sandy Falls roads are not intended for large commercial vehicles.

Police say they'll be "addressing those operators who choose to disregard the established detours."
