Rainfall Warning in effect for:

  • Timmins - Cochrane

Rain, heavy at times is expected. The frozen ground has a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall.

Hazard: Total rainfall amounts of 30 to 60 mm.

Timing: Winding down Friday night.

Discussion: Rain has begun over many areas will push north towards Little Abitibi, where it will start later this evening. The heaviest rainfall is expected tonight into Friday. The rain may begin to transition to snow in some areas Friday afternoon or Friday evening. A full changeover to snow is likely for some areas Friday night with local snowfall amounts of 5 cm possible by Saturday morning.

Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop. Don't approach washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.
