Hazardous waste drop-off day coming up

Residents wanting to properly dispose of household hazardous waste, take note.

Saturday, Aug. 29 is the city's hazardous and special waste drop off day at the Archie Dillon Sportsplex. It runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is free of charge. 

Items included in the collection are: paint, flammable and miscellaneous organics, aerosols, single-use batteries, singlue-use propane cylinders and refillable propane tanks, oxidizers, pesticides, antifreeze, oil filters, inorganic acids and bases, fuel and oil, pathological waste (sharps), pharmaceuticals, compact fluorescents and fluorescent tubes, and household electronics.

The event is for residents only. Commercial and industrial waste will not be accepted.
