A swimming advisory issued earlier this week for Gillies Lake has been lifted.

According to the Porcupine Health Unit, it has been lifted effective June 26 after "satisfactory water results."

A swimming advisory for Porcupine Lake remains in effect. The health unit alert says the water may have high levels of bacteria.

"The water is not recommended for swimming. The latest bacterial tests of the water indicated unacceptable levels of bacteria," reads the advisory.

Yesterday, the City of Timmins opened the beach at Gillies Lake. While it is being maintained, it is not supervised.
