When Roland Michener's new bus hits the road, it will decked out in the school's colours.

Giant Tiger at the Porcupine Mall has donated $1,200, which will help pay for the cost of wrapping the bus and the bus itself.

Tammy McIntyre, the store's general manager, said the cash was raised by selling raffle tickets for a three-foot chocolate rabbit around Easter.

The fundraiser came about after she heard that the team van was being replaced.

"When my daughter attended she was part of the volleyball team and the van was in rough shape back then, we were happy to participate it’s a local school and we’re really about community,” she said.

When it's on the road, principal Kirsten Elvestad said the bus is used almost every day by sports teams or for class excursions, college and university tours, and more.

Giant Tiger regularly helps out the community, and McIntyre said the support is fantastic.

“South Porcupine, Porcupine is a great little community and there’s a lot of camaraderie, a strong sense of pride and they’re always willing to help out,” she said.
