With the municipal election next month, there are a number of events coming up to allow voters to get to know the candidates.
Here are the events that we know of so far:
George Pirie campaign office opening
Saturday, Sept. 8, noon – 3 p.m.

Monday, Sept. 10, 6 – 8 p.m., Connaught Community Association, 6825 Frederickhouse Lake Rd
Wednesday, Sept. 12, noon – 2 p.m., Whitney Arena, 4969 Hwy. 101 E.
Meet the Ward 4 candidate and share your thoughts on the issues affecting you.
Meet Jason Sereda
Wednesday, Sept. 12, 5 p.m., The Moneta Pub and Grub, 331 Pine St. S.
Thursday, Sept. 27, 6 p.m., The Working Class, 180 Second Ave.
Meet the Ward 5 candidate and discuss ideas on how to improve the community and enjoy a refreshing break.
Sept. 29, noon to 4 p.m.
Croatian Hall, Schumacher
Ward 3 candidate Donna Dorrington is hosting this family potluck, where you can learn more about her as a candidate and your neighbours. RSVP at [email protected]. Each person is also asked to bring a non-perishable food item for the Timmins Food Bank.
Meet the Candidates and Mayoral Debate
Thursday, Oct. 4, 6 – 8:30 p.m.
O’Gorman High School
A Timmins Chamber of Commerce event that will feature a meet and greet with the candidates for Wards 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 in the common area/cafeteria from 6 – 7 p.m. There will be a mayoral debate from 7 – 8:30 p.m. in the theatre. Submit your questions to [email protected] or at the door. There is no cost to attend.
Wards 2, 3 and 4 councillor debate
Oct. 10, 6 – 8 p.m.
Northern College
The Timmins Chamber of Commerce is hosting the debate for candidates running in Ward 2 (South Porcupine), Ward 3 (Schumacher), and Ward 4 (Porcupine).
Wards 1 and 5 councillor debates
Thursday, Oct. 11, 6 – 8 p.m.
College Boreal, 395 Theriault Blvd.
Hear from the candidates in Wards 1 and 5. The event is being hosted by the Timmins Chamber of Commerce.
