Freezing rain warning in effect for:
  • Timmins - Cochrane - Iroquois Falls

Freezing rain tonight into early Thursday morning.

What:
Freezing rain. Ice accretion of 5 to 10 mm is expected.

Where:
Primarily a corridor along and north of Highway 101, including Timmins. This includes sections of Highway 17 and Highway 11.
The section of Highway 17 between Wawa and White River could particularly be impacted by the freezing rain until early Thursday morning.

When:
Tonight into early Thursday morning.

Discussion:
Freezing rain is expected to develop as the temperature drops below the freezing mark tonight. Preceded with rain this afternoon, the freezing rain will likely mix with ice pellets and snow overnight into Thursday morning. Ice accretion of 5 to 10 mm is expected.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Slow down driving in slippery conditions. Watch for taillights ahead and maintain a safe following distance. Poor weather conditions may contribute to transportation delays. Utility outages may occur.
