Special weather statement in effect for:

  • Timmins - Cochrane - Iroquois Falls

Messy mix of wintry precipitation including a prolonged period of freezing rain.

Precipitation is likely to begin as showers Wednesday afternoon across the area. However, as temperatures rapidly fall Wednesday evening, the showers are expected to quickly transition to a period of freezing rain. The freezing rain will likely continue for a few hours before transitioning to ice pellets and then snow by Thursday morning. A few hours of light snow will be possible by the time the precipitation comes to an end Thursday afternoon.

Given the possibility of an extended period of freezing rain, appreciable ice accretions are likely and some power outages may occur.

Residents are advised to monitor future forecasts closely.
