Update:

Freezing rain warning in effect for:

  • Timmins - Cochrane - Iroquois Falls

Freezing rain is expected on Wednesday.

Hazards:
Freezing rain with ice accretion of a few millimetres possible.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery.

Timing:
Freezing rain beginning Wednesday morning or early afternoon changing to rain Wednesday night.

Discussion:
Snow or ice pellets is expected to transition to freezing rain Wednesday morning or early afternoon. Freezing rain will change over to rain as the temperature rises above freezing Wednesday night.

Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. Slow down driving in slippery conditions. Watch for taillights ahead and maintain a safe following distance.

Current details:
Freezing rain likely on Wednesday.

Hazards:
Snow and ice pellet accumulations of 5 to 10 cm possible.
Freezing rain with some ice accretion possible.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery.
Strong wind gusts up to 60 km/h.

Timing:
Snow or ice pellets beginning tonight likely transitioning to freezing rain Wednesday morning and possibly rain later Wednesday.

Discussion:
An intensifying Colorado Low is expected to track over northwestern Ontario on Wednesday. Snow and ice pellets ahead of this system are forecast to move into northeastern Ontario tonight before likely transitioning to freezing rain on Wednesday. Some areas may see the precipitation then change to rain later Wednesday or Wednesday night while others could see a change back to snow.

Uncertainty remains regarding the track of this system which could change the location of the freezing rain and snowfall amounts.
