Freezing rain warning in effect for:

  • Little Abitibi - Kesagami Lake
  • Kapuskasing - Hearst - Smooth Rock Falls

Freezing rain today and tonight.

Precipitation has begun over portions of the area. Where temperatures are cooler, this precipitation has begun as snow while areas closer to Lake Superior are seeing rain early this morning. For all areas, this initial precipitation is forecast to transition to freezing rain this morning or this afternoon.

Several hours of freezing rain are expected. Significant ice accretion of 5 to 10 mm are expected before the freezing rain transitions to ice pellets or snow late tonight.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Ice build-up may cause tree branches to break. Utility outages may occur.

Freezing rain warning in effect for:

  • Fraserdale - Pledger Lake

Freezing rain today and tonight.

After a period of snow early this morning, freezing rain is forecast to begin near Fraserdale later this morning. Several hours of freezing rain are expected and 5 to 10 mm of ice accretion are likely by the time the freezing rain transitions to ice pellets and eventually snow tonight.

A snowfall warning is in effect for areas north of Fraserdale, where 15 to 20 cm of snow is expected mainly tonight into Thursday morning.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Ice build-up may cause tree branches to break. Utility outages may occur.
