Ontario will waive the need for a fishing licence or Outdoors Card for families that want to do some fishing this weekend.

It's also offering free admission to provincial parks on Sunday.

The minister of natural resources and forestry and the minister of the environment say the exemptions are being granted in conjunction with Father's Day, which is June 20.

The waiver of a fishing licence and Outdoors Card is in effect both Saturday and Sunday.

However, anglers must abide by conservation licence catch limits, obey size limits, and follow all other fishing regulations.

Free day-use permits at more than 100 provincial parks are available Sunday only.

Under COVID-19 restrictions, outdoor gatherings of up to 10 people are permitted.

Capacity in parks will be limited to avoid overcrowding.

To guarantee access to 17 select popular provincial parks, the MNRF advises booking a daily vehicle permit in advance on its website.

Locally, the only park on this list is Kettle Lakes.

The government also continues to offer free weekday daily vehicle permits for all provincial parks from Monday to Thursday until Sept. 2, 2021.
