Four fires continue to burn in the northeast region

No new wildfires have been confirmed by late afternoon on May 29, while four other fires remain active in the northeast region, the Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry said in today's news release.

All remaining fires are under control.

  • Timmins 1, a 1445-hectare fire, was confirmed on Tuesday afternoon on May 10. It is situated two kilometres southeast of Morin Village and half a kilometre north of Barager's Lake. 
  • Sudbury 4, which was confirmed on Tuesday afternoon, May 10, measures 229 hectares. It is located three kilometres east of Estaire and one kilometre south of Nepewassi Lake Road.
  • Sudbury 7, a 221-hectare fire, was also confirmed on Tuesday afternoon on May 10. It is located 600 metres north of Ashigami road and 0.3 kilometres west of Ashigami Lake Road East.
  • Sudbury 11, which was confirmed on Friday, May 13, measures 88 hectares and is located two kilometres northeast of Mink Lake.
