Shawn Adams from Temiskaming Shores won the March 50/50 draw for the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation. He's seen here with his wife Debbie.

It took a couple of phone calls for the hospital foundation to share good news last week.

Timmins and District Hospital Foundation staff made several phone calls to Shawn Adams of Temiskaming Shores to tell him that he'd won $138,105 on the March 50/50 draw.

"Shawn has been playing our 50/50 for a long time now." reads the TADHF announcement.

"He and his family have used services at our district Hospital many times over the years and has always appreciated the care they’ve received. Shawn worked as a laboratory tech for 32 years so he understands the pressures on healthcare and the importance of fundraising for hospitals in general."

He plans to use the windfall to help his son pay for medical school in Australia, and he has his eyes on a new boat.

Ticket sales are open for the April draw. They are only available online here.
