Norman Street is closed south of Cedar Meadows due to safety concerns, according to Timmins Police.

Police say the road is closed south of Cedar Meadows due to "expected rising water levels", and that the decision was made in consultation with the Mattagami Region Conservation Authority.

"Access to Cedar Meadows (local traffic only) will still be permitted from the Lafleur Street bridge located to the north of Cedar Meadows," said police.

"These measures are deemed necessary until the situation improves to such a degree that public safety is not at risk."

The CIty of Timmins is also reminding people to be vigilant around flooded areas as the water levels rise.

For people needing sand bags to protect their property, filling stations are set up at the Mountjoy Arena and Confederation Sports Centre.
