W.Q Carpentry, an existing First Nation business, has unveiled plans to expand its operations in Timmins, Ont.

Founded by William Quacheqan, a member of Moose Cree First Nation, W.Q Carpentry is a business that provides carpentry services for clients throughout Timmins, Ont., the Mattagami First Nation and the surrounding municipalities and First Nations. The company announced today that they are undertaking a business planning project to expand their service offerings.

W.Q Carpentry will offer residential and commercial general contractor services to their clients and will create new jobs in the Timmins and surrounding area. The company is expanding to have the capacity to execute larger projects, with the ability to complete a project from start to finish.  

Owner William Quachegan is a successful participant in the Orica Aboriginal Entrepreneurship Program which awarded him financial support, business planning and advisory services to help with the expansion.

“I am proud to start this new endeavour close to home to help drive job creation and economic development in the Timmins and surrounding area. Having financial grants and mentorship from initiatives like the Orica program, have made the journey of expanding my business much easier. The next year will be an exciting time for me and W.Q. Carpentry, and I am ready for the challenges and opportunities to come," says William Quachegan.
