By mid-afternoon on June 27, there were six active fires in the region.
- Timmins 6 was discovered on June 27 and is located northwest of Timmins. The fire is 5 hectares in size and is not under control. Fire crews and air attack are working to suppress the fire.
- Sudbury 26, discovered on June 27 and located south of Nelson Lake Road, is currently being held at 0.3 of a hectare.
- Sudbury 25 was discovered on June 27 and is located south of Wahnapitae. The fire is being held at 0.4 of a hectare.
- Cochrane 5 was confirmed on June 20 approximately 80 km west of the Far North community of Attawapiskat. The fire is being observed at 1,600 hectares.
- Cochrane 4, located in the Far North, was discovered on June 14 and covers 3,400 hectares. Fire crews continue to maintain values protection in the area.
- Cochrane 2, located near the community of Peawanuck, was discovered on June 11 and is being observed at 122 hectares.
The fire hazard is generally high across the Northeast. The areas of most concern are in the Greater Sudbury and North Bay regions, which are showing an extreme hazard.
