Fatality reported in Highway 11 collision

CITY OF TEMISKAMING SHORES - Members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a fatal motor vehicle collision on July 3, 2017 shortly after 7 p.m.

The collision occurred on Highway 11, Armstrong Township. A southbound car entered the northbound lane where it collided with an oncoming van.

A total of two people were involved in the collision. The driver of the car, 17-year-old female of Timmins, sustained minor injuries. The driver of the van, Richard Hobson, 50 of Armstrong Township, was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The Earlton Fire Department and the Temiskaming Ambulance attended the scene. The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) are assisting with this ongoing investigation.

Highway 11 was opened at approximately 4:45 a.m.
