Extreme cold alert issued, temperature expected to drop to -27 C

There'll be a temporary warming station outside city hall overnight

With overnight temperatures expected to drop, the City of Timmins has issued an extreme cold weather alert for Jan. 24.

The advisories are put out when the weather is expected to drop below -25 C, including windchill. In its announcement, the City of Timmins says temperatures are expected to drop to -27 C with the windchill.

People who need emergency shelter can go to Living Space, 316 Spruce St. S.

The 705 Risktakers will also be set up outside of city hall with a temporary warming station from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.
