Environment Canada issues snow squall warning for Timmins and surrounding area

Snow squall warning in effect for:

  • Little Abitibi - Kesagami Lake
  • Timmins - Cochrane - Iroquois Falls

Brief, intense snowfall is occurring. Visibilities will be rapidly reduced due to the heavy snow combined with blowing snow.

Hazards:
Sudden reduction in visibility from blowing snow and heavy snow.
Peak snowfall rates of 2 to 4 cm per hour are possible.

Timing:
Now through this evening.

Discussion:
A brief but intense snow squall, associated with a cold front, will track southeast across the region this evening.

Impacts:

Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions.
