The Mattagami Region Conservation Authority and the Wintergreen Fund for Conservation are inviting City residents to come out to the Hersey Lake Conservation Area on Sunday, Feb. 23 to help celebrate Timmins Winter Hiking Day. The event will start at noon with a short winter survival course put on by Timmins Porcupine Search and Rescue.

Then at 12:30 p.m., a 'winter ecology' guided hike will take you on a half hour tour of the Conservation Area. The hike will be a great way to learn a little about how plants and animals have adapted to survive the cold of a northern winter. Hot refreshments will be served up by the Wintergreen volunteers until 2 p.m.
