Driver and pedestrian both face traffic charges in Saturday crash

The Timmins Police Service – Traffic Section has completed its investigation into a collision in which a pedestrian was injured on Saturday, Jan. 21 at approximately 5:30 p.m.

The collision occurred at the intersection of Pine Street at Algonquin Boulevard in Timmins where a westbound 2016 Kia Sorento SUV struck a pedestrian who was attempting to cross the street at that intersection.

The pedestrian was transported to Timmins and District Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Based on the outcome of the comprehensive investigation, the driver of the vehicle, Melanie Carrier, 30, of Porcupine, has been charged with amber light – fail to stop, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Additionally, the pedestrian, Brian Lajeunesse, 44 of Timmins, has been charged with pedestrian – disobey “Do Not Walk” signal, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
