The building housing the museum will soon bear his name, and now a former councillor and mayor has an honourary spot at the board table.

This week, council approved appointing Mike Doody as an honourary member of the museum advisory committee.

Doody is a founding member of the Timmins Museum: National Exhibition Centre and long held at seat on its board. The honourary appointment is a non-voting position, and his presence at meetings is not to be considered when deciding quorum.

While Doody ran for re-election in the fall, he did not win a seat at the table.

In the last council's final act, it named the building housing the Timmins Museum and Timmins Economic Development Centre the Michael "J.J." Doody Centre of Excellence.
