Representatives from Les Perles du Nord – Richelieu attended Timmins and District Hospital Thursday afternoon to make a generous donation from funds raised through their bingo activities at Jackpot City Bingo. Presenting a cheque for $12,211 on behalf of Les Perles Du Nord were Roxanne Daoust and Doris Blouin Harrison along with sweet Journey Daoust. Accepting the donation on behalf of the hospital was Vicky Bernard, Manager, Obstetrics and Mental Health and Barb McCormick, Manager of Donor Relations, TADH Foundation.

Roxanne spent several days in the pediatric unit when both her young children were being treated for respiratory illness at the same time. “I watched the nurses having to disconnect one child from the heart rate and oxygen monitor to be able to check on my other child located in another room. I immediately went to the foundation to ask about how I could assist with getting another monitor for the pediatric department.”  As a member of Les Perles du Nord - Richelieu, Roxanne approached Doris with her experience. Doris stated “our group’s primary fundraising focus is to help kids in need. We manage two bingos every month and this project was an ideal way to distribute those funds.

“The volunteering efforts and fundraising initiatives of Les Perles du Nord allowed for this generous donation to be put towards the purchase of this second system” says Barb McCormick. Vicki Bernard added: “the main function of this monitor is to continually track the heart rate and oxygen levels of our most precious patients, this new system has a unique feature of a second monitor, that can have our nurses remotely monitor those from others areas of the unit.”
