Disturbance call leads to assault charge for Timmins woman

Police say she uttered threats and damaged a wall while being interviewed

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local woman stemming from a disturbance at a Balsam Street South apartment building in Timmins yesterday afternoon (06 March).

Responding Timmins Police Service officers completed their investigation into the matter where it is alleged a female suspect was involved in a heated exchange with another resident of the building.

Upon being interviewed by the officer, the subject is alleged to have uttered threats and caused damage to a section of wall within the common area of the building.

The woman was taken into police custody without incident.

As a result of this incident, Lynn Beland, 39, of Timmins, has been charged with:
    •    common assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    utter threats contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    mischief under $5,000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against her.
