Cyclist suffers serious injuries in hit and run

Police look to identify the driver of the vehicle who failed to stop at the scene

The Timmins Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance with a reported incident of hit and run. The collision occurred during the evening hours of Wednesday, June 27 at the intersection of Cedar Street at Sixth Avenue in Timmins

A 26-year-old female cyclist was travelling northbound on Cedar Street when it (collided) with a red Toyota four-door passenger vehicle which was travelling east on Sixth Avenue. The driver of the motor vehicle continued travelling along Sixth Avenue and eventually turned left onto Pine Street north.

The driver of the Toyota vehicle failed to stop at the scene of the collision and render any assistance to the female cyclist who sustained serious injuries. The cyclist was taken to TDH for treatment of her injuries by ambulance.

The suspect vehicle is described as a newer model Toyota four-door passenger vehicle with a fin or spoiler on the rear hood. The fleeing driver has been described as Caucasian female, in her early 20s, with blond or brown hair with thin features.
