Between the 20th and 21st of September, 2013, about 21 kilometers south of South Porcupine, near Liberty Mine a senseless hunter killed a cow and calf moose using a high powered rifle directly on the roadway.

Again, on the 28th of September on Highway 101 West near Groundhog River someone used a high powered rifle to shoot and kill a bull moose, again, from the highway.

The act of harvesting an animal outside the prescribed seasons affects the ecological structure, which then affects us all.

The act of discharging a firearm on or near a roadway of any kind is a criminal offence that could result in serious bodily harm or death to an unsuspecting passerby.

If you know who these careless hunters are, or can identify any other hunters with similar habits please call Crime Stoppers at 705-268-8477, or via the internet at www.tipsubmit.com.

Your call is never taped or traced, and you could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1000 if your information leads to the arrest of the people responsible.  Remember, Crime doesn’t pay, Crime Stoppers does!
