A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at the Golden Manor in Timmins.

In its announcement, the Porcupine Health Unit did not say how many cases are at the facility. An outbreak is declared when there are at least two lab-confirmed cases linked to the location.

"Affected individuals have been given individual guidance for monitoring, isolation and testing as appropriate. The health unit will continue to work with the facility to provide infection prevention and control assessments and support the implementation of enhanced public health measures as necessary," reads the announcement.

So far this year, there have been 2,111 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the health unit region. There's been a total of 5,255 cases since the start of the pandemic. There are 406 known active cases.

Molecular testing that adds to the provincial case counts is limited. It includes people living and working in the highest risk settings such as long-term care homes. The full criteria for who can be tested is available here.
