COVID-19 cases have been reported at Kirkland Lake schools.

One student at Central School is a confirmed case. One staff member at Kirkland Lake Composite Secondary School is also a confirmed case, according to the provincial reporting of school COVID-19 cases.

Both are District School Board Ontario North East schools. The board website reporting COVID cases also indicates there are active cases at the Kirkland Lake schools. It has changed how it reports cases online and no longer indicates if classes or schools are closed in relation to the cases.

Kirkland Lake is part of the Timiskaming Health Unit (THU) area, where there has been a recent spike in cases.

To date, the THU has reported 286 confirmed COVID-19 cases. Of those, 251 are recovered and three people have died. There are 32 known active cases, including one person in hospital.
