Coroner announces inquest into Timmins mining death

Dr. David Eden, Regional Supervising Coroner for Inquests, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Trevor King.

Mr. King, 26, died on April 2, 2012, from injuries received during the course of his employment at a mining site in Timmins.

An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.

The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. King's death.

The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.

The inquest is expected to last two days and to hear from approximately five witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 2, 2015, at the Superior Court of Justice, 48 Spruce Street North, Timmins. Dr. David Cameron will preside as inquest coroner and Dale Cox will be counsel to the coroner.
