Cop notices man riding bike in 'an erratic fashion'

The Timmins Police Service has charged a Val Gagne man with a breach of bail conditions related offence stemming from an incident which occurred during the early morning hours of Tuesday, Aug. 13.

While completing general patrols of the downtown core of Timmins, a Timmins Police Service officer took note of a man riding a bicycle in an erratic fashion. A traffic stop was initiated by the officer and upon confirming the man’s identity, it was determined that the man was bound by strict curfew restrictions imposed by the Provincial Court in Timmins.

Once the pertinent details of the recognizance of bail were confirmed by the Timmins police service officer, the man was arrested and taken into police custody.

As a result of the incident, Paul Lyons, 35, of Val Gagne, Ont., has been charged with:

  • Breach of recognizance contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charge laid against him.
