Concert moves audience to dance, play spoons (4 photos)

All three performers at Thursday evening's Summer Concert Series installment were crowd-pleasers

Moncton, New Brunswick singer-songwriter Jared Lutes was a featured musician last evening at the Bannerman Park.

In his 45-minute set list, he demonstrated great competence as both guitarist and vocalist. While his awards and international nominations pile up, he’s a proud Canadian with a prosperous future. This accomplished artist, with five records already produced, draws parallels to Blue Rodeo and Bruce Springsteen to name but two in his rock-vibe style.

On the local scene, Carole Reid followed Jared.

Performing under the modernized gazebo with a stunning backdrop, she held her own. Classic rock, pop, country, and French Canadian tunes were sung with much enthusiasm. The crowd was very pleased, with some getting up to line dance and another to play spoons.

Joanne Marie, a second local singer with a jaw-dropping raspy voice, seized the attention of everyone present. She belted out mainly songs in the rock genre that remain true classics. Johnny Cash, Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac, Elton John, and The Animals were some bands and musicians she paid homage to, beneath the descending sun.

As part of the Summer Concert Series, the event was well attended and each performer was a welcoming sight in this serene environment.
