A new ride-sharing company is responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.

With people trying to practice social distancing, Uride founder and CEO Cody Ruberto said in a news release that some may want to avoid public transit. The company is offering free rides for the next two weeks.

"Our hope is that these rides with a driver who disinfects their vehicle after each trip, will help the community remain safe and give people the option to avoid mass gatherings," said Ruberto.

"The response we have received from people who have used our services in Timmins has been remarkable. They especially enjoy the quick response of our team of drivers and the cleanliness of the vehicles. While our mission is to prevent impaired driving in Timmins, we also want to give back to the community and help people remain healthy and safe and so giving free rides to passengers the next two weeks is one way we can do that."

To access the free rides, enter the promocode TIMMINSFREE when ordering your ride. There is a maximum of two, $20 rides per day until March 29.
