Comedy festival off to an inappropriate start

Foul mouthed comedians lube up local comedy fans with non-wholesome performance

Timmins Comedy Festival 2016 got underway on Thursday with two shows.

At Ecole Secondaire Theriault, an all french show 'Spectacle de Comedie' featured Derek Seguin, Dave Gaudet, and Timmins' own Rick Lemieux, who performed his routine in french for the first time.

Over at The Working Class, the much anticipated 'Inappropriate Thursday' was a completely different vibe. Everything disgusting was discussed. Host Dwayne Lemieux, wearing a jaunty taco shirt, kept the sold-out crowd entertained in between comics.

It was a family affair for the Lemieux family, as Francine Lemieux, sister of Rick and Dwayne, performed a foul mouthed routine with her proud parents in attendance.

A surprise appearance by Seguin proved to be a bonus for the crowd, as he was not originally listed in the lineup. His material included a lengthy discussion on the negative repercussions of an epidural. He also explained why he feels that women's bowel movements smell worse than men's.

Clint Couchie, who hails from a First Nations reserve in the North Bay area, got the crowd laughing right away with a diabetes joke in the first minute. He also joked that he should have chose a profession in which his name could have came in handier, such as Gynecology.

Jen Grant got into some audience interaction while discussing grooming near the private parts. She got big laughs when she told the crowd why she hates hearing 'you look tired.'

Kenny Robinson finished the evening off with a raunchy set chock full of expletives.

When the show ended and the crowd poured out onto Second Avenue, they were greeted a good amount of fresh snowfall. Robinson looked thrilled.

The Timmins Comedy Festival continues on Friday night at The Dante Club with the 'Dinner Comedy' show. It features Grant, Robert Simoneau, and Glen 'That Canadian Guy' Foster.

This event is sold out. However, tickets are still available for the 'Kids Comedy Magic Show' which takes place at Theriault at 2pm. Tickets are $5.

There are also tickets available for 'The Showcase' on Saturday night at 8pm. It features the entire lineup of comedians and will cost $25 at the door. $20 tickets are still available for purchase at Altered Reality on Third Avenue.
