If you're looking to get rid of some household items or old clothes, they've been added to the special waste event this weekend.

This Saturday, June 15 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. is the City of Timmins' annual hazardous and special waste drop-off day. Textiles have been added to the list of items that can be dropped off at the snow dump on Spruce Street South.

Clothing, linen, shoes, toys and some home goods are included in what can be dropped off in clear plastic bags. The full list is available here.

When the city's hazardous waste day was first announced, textiles weren't going to be part of it.

Since then, Recycling Awards has stepped up to help make sure the items are diverted from the landfill.

The textile donations support the Cornerstone to Recovery, which is a non-profit providing community-based recovery programs to people and families impacted by addiction.

This year's collection is at a temporary new location due to redevelopment of the Golden Manor.

To get there, take Pine Street South, then turn east on Iroquois Road and follow the one-way traffic to the drop-off point. Traffic will exit on Spruce Street.
