Clearlogic Contract Renewal Debate at Council Meeting

Clearlogic Consultants have been hired to implement the City of Timmins’ Strategic Plan initiatives for the last two years.

Clearlogic Consultants have been hired to implement the City of Timmins’ Strategic Plan initiatives for the last two years. Clear logic have been doing an excellent job and have built capacity within their organization to maintain all that is required for the implementation of the strategic directions. It is understood that in 2014, some initiatives will be led by City of Timmins staff however, all other implementation functions will require the services of Clearlogic to continue.

Councillor Lever has an issue with the amount as the "heavy lifting" has been done and feels that other options should have been looked at. The city pays lots for consulting and feels that things should be wound down.

Councillor Bamford says that it's too early to stop the momentum. Clearlogic has done an excellent job to this point and it's less expensive than to pay people to continue the work. He wants people to support this group for at least one more year.

Councillor Scripnik supports the recommendation from CAO Torlone.

Councillor Black asks if anyone has monitored the time the consultants have worked. CAO Torlone says that it's not tracked by hours but by what is delivered.

The major items should be completed by the end of January. CAO Torlone mentions the communications are a big part of the work done between Facebook and such. These alone require .5 of a fulltime position.

Mayor Laughren asks for information in regards to the costs involved if /when the city takes this over. This information will be presented at a future council and needs to be looked at for the upcoming budget.

Councillor Rinaldo asks, "Is there a closing date?"

More information will be brought to council for a future presentation.
