City of Timmins Parking By-law Clarification

Timmins, ON. On August 26th 2013, Mayor and Council approved changes to Parking By-Law 1973-196.

Timmins, ON. On August 26th 2013, Mayor and Council approved changes to Parking By-Law 1973-196. Specifically, the bylaw was revised to reflect a number of changes to the current fee structure: an increase to metered parking for both on-street and municipal lots, an increase to overtime meter fines in parking lots and an increase to parking lot permit fees.

The new rates are as follows:

- Meters: .25 for 20 minutes and .75 / hour effective Aug 26th 2013 - Monthly Permits: $5.00 increase / month effective January 1 2014 - Overtime parking fines for meter violations in Municipal Lots increased to $8.00

According to City Clerk Steph Palmateer, “some members of the public are under the impression that all of these changes would be implemented in January 2014 only. That is not the case with respect to the metered parking, both on street and in municipal lots, as well as to the increases for meter violations in municipal lots. It’s important to re-iterate the changes and to confirm, once again, the dates that Council approved for the implementation of these fee increases.”
