Events are scheduled in the city this week to mark National Engineering Month.
Tony Linton, the treasurer of the Porcupine-Kapuskasing chapter of Professional Engineers of Ontario, was at City Hall this morning for the official proclamation.
He said the chapter will be at Ecole publique Lionel-Gauthier tomorrow for the bridge-building competition, which has students build bridges from Popsicle sticks to see whose can withstand the most weight.
The chapter is also holding a dinner later in the week where they'll be hearing about advancements in the mining industry.
