Flags at municipal buildings are being lowered this weekend.

Friday, the flags at city hall were lowered to honour former councillor Pat Bamford, who died this week. They will remain at half-mast there until Friday, May 8.

Sunday, May 3 the flags will be lowered to half mast for Ontario Police Memorial Day to acknowledge fallen officers.

“Recent tragic events in Nova Scotia earlier this month bring into sharp focus the need to recognize and honour those officers who have given their lives in service to their communities. The uniform and civilian members of the Timmins Police Service bid farewell to Const. Heidi Stevenson of the Nova Scotia RCMP and renew their issuance of condolences to the surviving members of her immediate family and the officers of her RCMP detachment. The weight of this kind of loss is felt by every member of the Timmins Police Service. On Sunday, May 3, our flags will fly at half-mast in order to pay homage to those officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in carrying out their duties," said Timmins Police Chief John Gauthier in a news release.
