Club Richelieu is bringing back its Christmas tree sale this week.

The second annual sale will be held Nov. 26-28 and Dec. 3-5 at Canadian Tire. There will be 350 trees for sale for a cost of $50 each.

The sale will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Fridays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays, and from noon to 4 p.m. Sundays.

Proceeds go to families and children in need in the Timmins area.

"The community of Timmins, please support the families in need through Richelieu," said club member Mike Cousineau.

Last year, the non-profit organization sold 100 trees during its inaugural sale.

Cousineau, who’s spearheading the project with JP Legault, said last year was a trial event to test the market and see how the sale would go.

“It went very well. We sold all the trees,” Cousineau said. “We had major sponsors and we sold or gave away all the trees."

The four- to six-foot trees come from a tree farm in the south.

"We have major sponsors that have come forward and spent lots of money and bought the trees but they don't want the trees. So we can resell them or donate them," Cousineau said explaining there will be a donation box and free trees available to those in need during the sale.

Because of the pandemic, club members also won't be gathering to wrap the gifts. They will still be doing it but individually, Cousineau said.
